Curator notes
- Opened in 1945 as the Town Casino, a jazz-era supper club — Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Les Paul & Mary Ford all played or were regulars; local legend places a Capone-era gambling room in the basement.[1]
- Sat dark for decades before reopening as Town Ballroom in 2005 under Artie Kwitchoff (former Goo Goo Dolls manager) and Donny Kutzbach, who still run it through their promotion company, Funtime Presents.[1]
- Holds about 1,000 across the main floor and balcony; a smaller 'Oxford Pennant Stage' was added later for more intimate shows. Kutzbach's own description: "a big room, but it's a room where 1,000 people feel like 400."[1]
- Past bills span St. Vincent, TV On the Radio, moe., Bob Weir & Ratdog, Bad Religion, and Clutch, plus early-career sets from Billie Eilish, Kacey Musgraves, and Greta Van Fleet.[1]
